Justin Selman

Director of Hockey Operations | Founding Coach

Justin brings with him over 22 years of hockey experience. As a New Jersey native and Bergen Catholic Alum, his prolific youth career set the stage as he took his talents to the University of Michigan. There, he Captained the NCAA Div 1 hockey team to their first Big Ten Championship. After Graduating with a Degree in Movement Science, he signed an NHL contract with the St. Louis Blues playing 3 years in the pro ranks. Selman also holds accolades as a strength and conditioning All American and Big Ten Academic All American.

Connor Leen

Founding Coach | Skills Specialist

Connor has been coaching players of all ages for the last 5 years. He implements innovative training methods to build skill-sets that translate into today’s game.
The Monroe, NY native began his career at Don Bosco Prep where he became a prolific play-maker and scorer earning himself multiple Division I Scholarship offers. After graduating, he played a year with the New Jersey Hitmen where he finished second in the league in points. The next year Leen took his talents up to Orono, attending the University of Maine where he competed for a Hockey East Championship, was named the ‘Richard Britt Award’ and earned Academic All-American accolades. Leen signed his first pro contract during the end of his senior year at Maine.

RJ Burns

Strength and Skills Specialist

We are proud to introduce RJ Burns to the topline hockey staff. RJ captained for Don Bosco in his high school playing days. He then played his junior hockey for the New Jersey Hitmen in the EJHL and finished up in the NAHL. Following juniors he went on to play NCAA division 1 for ARMY. He then transferred spending time with Des Moines in the USHL before finishing his college career as he captained the Geneseo.

Professional Experience:

Following his college career he had a prolific professional career in Sweden’s Pro League. RJ brings with him years of both playing and coaching experience and is looking forward to giving back to the NJ hockey community that gave him so much in return.

Austin Block

Skills Specialist

Austin Block Joined TopLine after an impressive career both in North America and EU. Austin spent time in the North American Hockey League before earning an offer to play at NCAA D1 hockey at the University of New Hampshire, in the very competitive Hockey East division. Austin has experience in over 250 professional games and brings 3 prior years of head coaching experience at the youth 18AAA and Jr hockey levels.

Rebecca Russo

Skills Specialist

Rebecca Russo, a Professional Women’s Ice Hockey Player, began her career in Connecticut playing for Mid-Fairfield Youth Hockey. Next she attended Shattuck St-Mary’s playing a vigorous 70 game schedule while also winning a National Championship. From Shattuck came a scholarship to play college hockey at Boston University. There she won 3 Hockey East Championships in a row while also being named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team her sophomore year. Russo signed her first pro contract at the end of her senior year to play in the National Women’s Hockey League for the Metropolitan Riveters. Russo has appeared in 2 All Star Games while winning the Fastest Skater Competition her rookie season and also went on to win the Isobel Cup. Russo, now a five-year veteran, continues to play for the Riveters while also working a full-time job in Fashion in New York City. In her free time she loves to coach and continue to pave the way for future generations of girls for them too to play in the NWHL.

Beau Starrett

Skills Specialist

We are happy to have Beau Starrett join us after a stellar hockey career. As a Boston native, he played for Catholic Memorial School and was named to the 2013 Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team. He spent his last year in high school as a member of the South Shore Kings (USPHL), where he was drafted 3rd round (88th overall) to the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2014 NHL draft. He then spent four years at Cornell University winning two Ivy League titles, followed by two years of pro in the Edmonton Oilers system in Bakersfield and Wichita. Beau’s youthful energy shines in through his sessions as you’ll typically find him jumping into the drills and letting his reps be seen and heard from all over the rink!

Matt Willows

Skills Specialist

Matt Willows is an NY native that played his junior hockey at the New Jersey Hitmen (EJHL) before captaining UNH (Hockey East). Matt received his bachelors in business while attending the University of New Hampshire. Following his college career he had experience with the San Jose, Carolina and Philadelphia NHL organizations.  After his pro career he continued on in the hockey world as the assistant coach at Manhattanville College where he led the team to a UCHC Championship. Matt has a a love and a constant passion for the game of hockey and is constantly in pursuit to find innovative ways to help players grow on and off the ice.
